Art Gallery Field Trip

Today the Grade 4 classes were out and about visiting two art galleries and a tour of urban street art.

Our first stop was to the KBach Gallery on St 178. Here Tony the gallery owner talked about how he got the gallery going and what KBach stands for. Local art works inspired by Cambodia.

We then did a tour of street art around the riverfront area. Our tour guide was David. Most of his work was graffiti inspired art also with a Cambodian theme.

The last gallery was SaSa Bassac art gallery on st 178.

Here we looked at work that was connected by building sites around Phnom Penh. The gallery director Erin explained the works and got the children to think about what inspires them, what was their gift to art.

The art was really inspiring and worth a visit to the galleries again.

We finished the day by having lunch in the park before returning to school.

  1. I really enjoyed Lily showing me the street art this weekend just off st 240. It was great to see it for real and recognise the works from these photos. I especially like the piece about the made up language.

  2. Congratulations for this field trip. I believe it is amazing to see how children respond when they are exposed to art that is relevant to their surroundings. It was great that your class has been able to learn how different urban art techniques have been assimilated by Cambodian artists.
