Peace & Conflict Puppet shows

Over the past week the class has been busy writing a narrative that had some sort of conflict in it.

They then converted their narrative into a script and made puppets for their characters.

Today some of the children got to perform their puppet show to the class. They all did really well performing in front of the class.

Guest Speaker - Peace and conflict

On Wednesday we were lucky to have Saara Lehmuskoski (G4 Eemil's mother) from Fin Church Aid talk about her role as the country director. She told the children about ways to help create Peace and the work her company does around the world.

Ms Saara talked to us about the work of Finn Church Aid. She helped us to understand how conflict can affect peoples lives and how Finn Aid works to help resolve conflict in many areas of the world. They focus on the "Right to Peace, Right to enducation and Right Livihoods"

She explained there are many factors leading to the conflict and many different perspectives to be considered when trying to get different groups to start talking.

Ms Saara reminded the children that not all conflicts involve guns or even conflict. That most of the time conflict is about POWER - who wants to be the boss but also about who has control over the natural resources of a land - Oil, water, diamonds, farmland etc

Ms Saara said they work closely with the United Nations

Peace art with our buddies

This week we caught up with our buddies again. We introduced them to our new unit of inquiry on Peace and Conflict.

They were asked to think of way they could show peace if they had to draw it.

Check out some of the cool drawings they did
