Meeting the new grade

On Monday the Grade 4 teachers got the opportunity to meet the new up and coming grade 4 children (Grade 3).

We used the chance to teach the G3 children one of our favorite games - Stop Ball.

The children were randomly put into 3 teams but some thought that this was going to be their new classmates when we return in August. We will just have to wait and see now.

Collaborative art

Today during art the class got to spend some with with some Khmer students from Chak Angkre Primary school.

They will come every Monday and will work with our class on some art projects.

It is a great way for the class to become more openminded and caring as the get to work with other children form outside ISPP.
Well done Ms Dana and Ms Alice for the great initiative.

Field trip - Jewish Synagogue

Today the G4 classes boarded the buses for the third time and went to the Jewish Synagogue to learn more about Judaism.

At the synagogue we were met by the Rabbi who talked to us about the Jewish faith.

He talked about the history of Judaism, some of the preachings and showed us some important artifacts.

The rabbi reminded the children that Judaism is a monotheistic religion, meaning - relating to or characterised by the belief that there is only one God. "A monotheistic religion"

That from Judaism Christianity was born.

Beliefs - Our wonderings

Today we had Ms Rachel come into the class to help us unpack our new unit "Beliefs System".

We were reminded about how to research and where we should look for information. We  then came up with our wondering questions.

What are some of the questions we have?
Ms Rachel showed us the question matrix. How we look at forming deeper questions...
Instead of what if ....what might? what will? what would?
Where might? where will? where can
When might?

Who can? who will?
Why might? why would?
How might? how can?

Some of our  wondering question are:
Why do we need to respect each other? (imagine a would where we didn't?)
Does the country you are born in, influence your belief, religion?
Can you change your beliefs as you get older?
How do people know what heaven and hell looks like if you only go there when you are dead?
Why does Islamic symbol be a moon and star?
If I don't have a belief / religion am I a bad person?

G10 Personal Project

On Friday our class was lucky enough to have Watey a G10 girl come and share with our class her G10 personal project.

She was investigating what the children know of corruption and was corruption okay. Would we recognize corruption if we saw it.

She surveyed the class several weeks prior and then on Friday performed a shadow puppet show showing different forms of corruptions (bribery).

After the play she asked the class their opinion on what they thought of corruption and did they think it was ok.

The class in a few weeks be able to view her final findings when all the G10 personal projects are on display.

Check out the shadow puppet show..
