Grade 4 Home Learning Tasks

Monday 23 - Friday 27th April

Reminder: Grade 4 home learning activities should only take 20-30 minutes per night. Each task is once a week, besides nightly reading.

	Math: Mathletics We are beginning a unit on decimals in math this week. Log into Mathletics and complete tasks under the decimals topic. Complete the work set on decimals and fractions.
	Unit of Inquiry: How We Organize Ourselves We have begun a new unit of inquiry this week. Watch the brainpop video about money. Complete the graded quiz. You will be asked how well you did on Friday. If you are still curious about economics there are a lot of other videos on brainpop to watch.
	Blog Posts - Complete your blog posts on your Student Led Conference and Earth’s Changes from before the Khmer New Year holiday. Holiday Blog post - Do a blog post about your holiday - Khmer Holiday - Where did you go and what did you do? Include some photos. If you stayed in Phnom Penh with family you can still add photos of celebrations you went to and things you got up to over the holiday.
	NOT COMPULSORY HOMEWORK Does your family have the game Monopoly at home? Or any other board games related to money, supply or demand? Make a time one night this week to play with your family. This will help you practice skills you need for the marketplace unit of inquiry,

	Math - Revision Math playground has a lot of games for you to practice and revise your math skills. Click on this link and check out the games. Post a comment on your blog which game is your favorite and what it made you practice or revision.
	Parent Reminders Remind your parents to come to your presentation and student led conference. 	Unit of Inquiry / Writing: Blog Post Finishing Your parents have been invited to school on Tuesday. Write a blog post reflecting on how it went. Include photos of your presentation. These could be posts Mr Simon has shared with you or ones that your parents took during your presentation.
	Reading Continue to read everyday for at least 20 minutes.

	Exhibition Surveys Don’t forget to support the Grade 5 Exhibition Groups. Spend time reading and filling out their surveys. They have been emailed to you, so check your inbox.
	Math - Fractions Can you find videos on Youtube that show what we have been doing in class on subtracting and adding mixed fractions. Show these to your parents so they know what you are doing for maths. Embed these videos on your blog. Can you video yourself as well showing how to solve a fraction problem. Put this on your blog as well.
	Unit of Inquiry - Choose one of the follow activities Brainpop has a lot of different videos about geography. Login - isppel - PW - cambodia11 Choose a topic that you are curious about and watch the video. Use Kidrex or Kiddle to further research into this. Take notes and make a blog post about what you have learnt. Add pictures For Fun (optional task) Do you think you know where all the continents are? Do you think you know where all different countries are in each continent? Try the Geospy quiz to test your geography knowledge.
	Beliefs fable story reflection You have all put on your blog your fable story you have written. Look at your video you have made. Reflect on your video and story line. How was your storyline. What was your message? Does the audience understand the message you were trying to give? You either presented your story in puppet form or comic book. How did you do? Did you enjoy doing this? Why or why not.

	Math - Go for Gold World Math Day is on the 7th of March. We need to practice to make sure we are prepared for the day. Log onto your Mathletics account and try out the World Math Day button on your Play Live Mathletics. Here is a link to the World Maths Day Mathletics World Challenge. Here you will find the rules and how to be the Top Student or Year Group.
	Unit of Inquiry: Brainpop Continents of the World Log into Brainpop to watch Continents of the World (isppel -) Watch the video more than once and take notes if you need to. When you’re ready that the GRADED Quiz. On your blog write a brief description of what you have learnt listening to brainpop about “Continents” - Add pictures Unit of Inquiry: Earth’s Changes Check out this website about Earth’s Changes. On your blog write down some things you have learnt. For example - The ways Earth has changed over time. What new unit vocabulary words have you discovered. Can you find 6 new words. Write them on your blog.
