Math: Mathletics

We are beginning a unit on decimals in math this week. Log into Mathletics and complete tasks under the decimals topic.

Unit of Inquiry: How We Organize Ourselves
We have begun a new unit of inquiry this week. Watch the brainpop video about money. Complete the graded quiz. You will be asked how well you did on Friday.

Blog Posts - Complete your blog posts on your Student Led Conference and Earth’s Changes from before the Khmer New Year holiday.

Holiday Blog post - Do a blog post about your holiday - Khmer Holiday - Where did you go and what did you do? Include some photos.

If you stayed in Phnom Penh with family you can still add photos of celebrations you went to and things you got up to over the holiday.

Does your family have the game Monopoly at home? Or any other board games related to money, supply or demand?
Make a time one night this week to play with your family. This will help you practice skills you need for the marketplace unit of inquiry,

Exhibition Surveys

Don’t forget to support the Grade 5 Exhibition Groups. Spend time reading and filling out their surveys. They have been emailed to you, so check your inbox.

Math - Fractions
Can you find videos on Youtube that show what we have been doing in class on subtracting and adding mixed fractions. Show these to your parents so they know what you are doing for maths.
Embed these videos on your blog.
Can you video yourself as well showing how to solve a fraction problem.

Beliefs fable story reflection
You have all put on your blog your fable story you have written. Look at your video you have made.

Reflect on your video and story line.
  1. How was your storyline. What was your message? Does the audience understand the message you were trying to give?
  2. You either presented your story in puppet form or comic book. How did you do? Did you enjoy doing this? Why or why not.

Unit of Inquiry: Earth’s Changes

On your blog write down some things you have learnt. For example - The ways Earth has changed over time.
What new unit vocabulary words have you discovered. Can you find 6 new words. Write them on your blog.
