Assembly Item - Values & Beliefs

Today the grade 4 classes presented their tuning in activity at assembly.

Our unit of inquiry is "Who we are - Beliefs System" with the central idea of "Understanding our own and other people's beliefs and values helps us respect each other".

We choose the line of inquiry "How our beliefs and values influence the way we act"

We take that to mean that we should understand and respect that everyone has different beliefs and values to our own. It doesn't matter who you are, what you believe in, what you wear or what you look like. We are all equal and we should treat everyone with respect, tolerance, friendship and love.

Here are three skits we presented at our assembly to show this and some photos from the assembly.

Did you know if the world was 100 people the following religions would be in the village.

We surveyed the grade 4 classes
- 10 are Christian
- 2 are Hindu
- 1 is Muslim (Islamic)
- 12 have no religion at all
- 28 are Buddhist

What are you?

House Assembly

Today for assembly the classes were all told to come in their house colour for a bit of house spirit.

It was really great to see everyone in their new house shirts.

Next week we will have our first tabloid sports day where we can earn points for our houses. It should be lots of fun

G4 parent meeting and Houses

On Friday at assembly the children were introduced to new concept of house system. Each house represents a special Cambodian Icon and will be used to promote competitiveness and collaboration during sports events and other special events at school.
Mekong - Blue
Lotus - Green
Bayon - Orange
Kouprey - Yellow

Unfortunately Mr Simon got left out of a house and had to eat a banana against 4 other teachers to see what house he was going to be in. Mr Simon did not know they were going to blind fold him and then the others left the stage and he competed against himself.

Mr Ben also talked to the G4 parents about our upcoming overnight camp. He answered questions from parents and children about the overnight camp.

We now hope that everyone will sign up.

Today the Grade 4's lead the elementary assembly.

We talked about the things we had been doing in our new "Artistic expression is influenced by the society they live".

The glee club also performed and the launch of ISPP TV was introduced.

I was really proud of everyone that spoke at assembly.
