Khmer New Year Celebration

On Thursday Ms Synith and Mr Wathana talked to the grade about "Khmer New Year Celebration".

They talked about the purpose of the celebration and some of the traditional games and food.

We then went out and played some traditional Khmer games.
The children really enjoyed the "Hawk and mother hen" and "3 = 2" tag game.
We were also very lucky to have Hannah's mother come and and give the class some traditional desert - Sticky rice to enjoy.

Happy Khmer New Year

Today the class under the guidance of Mr Puy and Ms Chantra played some traditional Khmer new year games.
              "Sousdey chhnaim thmey"

These involved chasing after someone with a scarf and hitting them if you caught them. A class favourite and a great opportunity to hit your teacher when he joined in.

The second game was similar to ten pin bowling where you had to knock down three conker seeds. The team to knock down their oppositions first then got to hit the other team on the knee with the seeds. Another favourite for the class.

The girls definitely had the better eye.
