Assembly Item - Values & Beliefs

Today the grade 4 classes presented their tuning in activity at assembly.

Our unit of inquiry is "Who we are - Beliefs System" with the central idea of "Understanding our own and other people's beliefs and values helps us respect each other".

We choose the line of inquiry "How our beliefs and values influence the way we act"

We take that to mean that we should understand and respect that everyone has different beliefs and values to our own. It doesn't matter who you are, what you believe in, what you wear or what you look like. We are all equal and we should treat everyone with respect, tolerance, friendship and love.

Here are three skits we presented at our assembly to show this and some photos from the assembly.

Did you know if the world was 100 people the following religions would be in the village.

We surveyed the grade 4 classes
- 10 are Christian
- 2 are Hindu
- 1 is Muslim (Islamic)
- 12 have no religion at all
- 28 are Buddhist

What are you?

Grade 6 Drama performance

On Thursday we were invited to secondary grade 6 drama class to watch their performances of traditional folk tales rewritten by them and given a modern twist.

The grade 4 children really enjoyed watching their performance and it was nice to recognise some familiar faces whom only two years ago were Grade 4's themselves.

Afterwards we took a walk through the secondary art gallery to check out the work on display.

Treasure Island Musical

This week the elementary G4 & G5 children are busy with their performance of "Treasure Island".

Under the watchful eye of Ms Claire, Ms Lisa, Ls Leigh, Ms Karyn and Ms Elaine the musical hit the stage.
It was a great opening night and all the children performed superbly.

The show will run for 3 performances and we wish all the performers the best.

"Break a leg" as they would say.

Readers theatre in action

This week the class has been busy with their readers theatre groups in preparation to perform them.
I was really impressed with how everyone did in such a short time and without any input from the teacher.

The children involved in this years musical definitely had the edge.

But there were some others that shone and maybe they need to come out from behind the backstage and next year be involved more.
