G4 "Earth's Changes" sharing

Today the Grade 4 classes invited parents in to see what we have been researching into with our unit "Where we are in place and time - Earth's Changes"

Central Idea - Ongoing geographical changes on Earth have caused humans to adapt to their environment.
Lines of inquiry - Natural processes affect topography on Earth
- People have adapted to geographical changes
The classes used GRASP to guide the children into what they had to present.

It was really great to see so many parents come in for the children to share their learning with.

Check out the photos.

Writing our Central Idea

Today we started our new unit of Inquiry - Where We Are in Place and Time (Earth's Changes)

An inquiry into orientation in place and time; the relationships between and the interconnectedness of individuals and civilizations, from local and global perspectives.

Today we watched a couple of videos on landslides and what is erosion as a tuning in activity for our new unit. The class then wrote a central idea based on what they had seen and thought.
They did not know what our central idea is and came up with the following

Earths Changes - Understanding why the world changes and why you just have to live with your environment
and
Understanding the changes of the world and is landscapes over time

Pretty good central ideas.
Our actual Central Idea is : Ongoing geographical
changes on Earth have caused humans to adapt to their environment.
