Today the class did a very basic experiment using rubber bands to show their understanding of Kinetic & Potential Energy.They got to shoot rubber bands.
They discovered that Potential Energy is the energy that is stored in an object due to its position relative to some zero position. An object possesses gravitational potential energy if it is positioned at a height above (or below) the zero height.Kinetic Energy - Kinetic energy is the energy of motion. An object that has motion - whether it is vertical or horizontal motion - has kinetic energy.
Afterwards they experimented in shooting rubber bands. It was incredible how many children have not every played or shot a rubber-band without actually hurting themselves.
It was very funny.
After the discovering what kinetic and potential energy was they looked at our lines of inquiry and in pairs broke it down. They also did their first thinking on what they think "Energy Is?"
