Today Natalie, Lucy and Maddie talked to the class about an important celebration in their American culture "Thanks Giving"
They explained to the class the history of it and why the Americans celebrate it.They told the class about how when the first Pilgrims arrived on the ship Mayflower in America hundreds of years ago around 1620 and anchored off Cape Cod. That the pilgrims had difficulty adapting to their new harsh environment that was America.
These pilgrims met the Native American Indians who helped them and taught them how to grow crops and to live off the land.
That is how "Thanks Giving" originated. That on the last Thursday of November, American people all around the world gather to give THANKS.
To be thankful for what they have.A great reason to celebrate. Unless of course you are a turkey...yum who doesn't love turkey, pumpkin pie, roast potatoes and cranberry sauce.
