Today we had Ms Alison our Elementary Counsellor in our class to talk to the class about how to keep safe. She asked the children about unsafe situations and "How do you feel when you feel unsafe?"
Their answers ranged from - feeling sick, nervous, butterflies in your stomach, heart races, funny feeling in your stomach, scared. Ms Alison reminded the children that they need to trust their instincts, feelings that are feeling. If they think it is unsafe, then it is probably unsafe.
The class also talked about examples of unsafe situations. These being - around water, traveling in cars, walking along the street, being around animals, what to do around knives and guns.
The big message that Ms Alison shared with the class was to tell someone if you feel unsafe. Tell an adult.
Be assertive and to say "NO, stop it, this is dangerous".
