Today we were lucky enough to have Mr Marty from secondary come over to talk to the grade about his documentary film he made a few years ago called "Cyclo Diaries".
It was a documentary he put together about his journey from Hanoi to Ho-chi-minh city on a cyclo. Something that had never been done before.
The trip took 30 days and some 1800km. That is the equivalent of biking to Siem Reap and back to Phnom Penh 5 times. Ouch.
Mr Marty told the children that before you can make any film you have to first come up with the idea. Then plan it. Think of what you are wanting to achieve. Create a script although with a documentary like his, it was a lot of filming on the spot. Then the hardest part was the editing of your work. Mr Marty said this took about 4 months to do as he was doing it in his spare time.
It was great having Mr Marty over to talk to the Grade 4 children.
