Grade 4 overnight camp notice

Dear Parents,

Grade 4 Overnight Trip

As part of their learning this year, Grade 4 will participate in an overnight trip. Each class will stay one night at the Meas Family Homestay (http://cambodianhomestay.com/) in Ang Ta Som (approximately 70km south of Phnom Penh off NH3). During the trip students will be taking part in different activities that connect to the Grade 4 unit of inquiry Who We Are - The Shape of a Leader, which examines how an individual interacts with other people and in particular with a focus on leadership.

The outline program for the trip is indicated below:
Mr Simon’s class - depart school Monday 28 August and return Tuesday 29 August
Ms Emily’s Class - depart school Tuesday 29 August and return Wednesday 30 August
Ms Kellie’s Class - depart school Wednesday 30 August and return Thursday 31 August

Each class will leave from school at 9am on the day of their trip and will be back at school on the second day by 2.30pm, to go home as normal.

The trip will be lead by Ben Wiggins (PE teacher), Alison Stanton (Counselor), and the homeroom teachers. Each class will also be accompanied by their own homeroom teacher and one other adult. We will travel on buses with seat belts, that we will hire for the duration of the trip.

At the homestay, students will be staying in shared rooms. The homestay will provide students with an evening meal on the first day and breakfast and lunch on the second day. If your child is signed up to the Epicure lunch plan, they will provide a packed lunch on the first day. If they are not signed up, then you will need to send them to school with a packed lunch on the day that your child leaves on the trip.
Students will need to bring the following items in a small bag:
- Complete change of clothes (t-shirt, shorts/trousers/underwear)
- Personal wash kit (toothbrush and paste/soap/small towel etc.)
- Sunblock and insect repellant
- Hat and water bottle
- Packed lunch - if not signed up to Epicure lunch plan
- Small torch/flashlight (optional)
- Reading book or small game to play with friends

Students should not bring:
- Electronic items (phones/iPads etc)
- Money
- Valuable items
- Sweets/candy or snacks

ISPP policy requires that each child has an up-to-date medical travel insurance for all trips. If you do not have insurance, the school can arrange for this to be purchased for the trip (approx. $15). This amount should be paid to the Finance Office.

There will be a parent information meeting on Friday 18 August in the Black Box. It will start after the assembly finishes (at approximately 8.15am). In this meeting we will distribute more detailed information and answer your questions. Information will also be posted on the Elementary PE Blog (https://isppelementarype.blogspot.com/p/grade-4.html) and the Grade 4 class blogs.

As this trip is happening outside of Phnom Penh, the generic permission slip sent home recently does not cover this trip. Please could you complete this electronic permission form - use this link: https://goo.gl/forms/BNV6Z1uE5I9TFd9J3

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at school.

Kind regards,
Paula Baxter
