Market Field Trip

Today the class visited Superduper Supermarket and the Russian Market.
As part of our tuning in stage of our new unit of inquiry "How we Organise ourselves (Marketplace)". The central idea being that "Markets exist in order to fulfil the needs and wants of a community".

It was a great experience for the children to compare the two markets. Each were organised in different ways but both catered for a variety of people.

The class had to find certain products at both markets and compare their prices as well as record what they could hear, see, and feel at each.

It was nice for our Khmer children to shine in the market as they asked the stall owners the price of products. Afterwards the groups were given a small amount of money to purchase some fruit at the market.

It certainly was a bit of an eye opener for some children when we visited the fresh food section in market where is was real proof of how fresh the produce was.
