They will be expected to bike between 20km and 40km give or take a few km.
Today we biked around the housing complex next to the school. This was a safe venue for the children who were not confident on the bike to get in a bit of practice. It still required them to be watching what they were going as bikes and small vehicles were still using the housing complex. Not to many crashes.
Some children realised after a few laps that they needed to upgrade their bikes to a bigger bike as some had out grown their bikes over the summer break.
Only two more practices to go.

At this stage, please carefully consider whether your child can commit to the training program and shows the maturity and behaviour standards required for this residential trip. We will be setting up a training schedule that will run in the months leading up to the trip. This will involve lunchtime running activities at school on Fridays.
All the students will also need to commit to three early morning Sunday bike rides. We will meet at the ISPP carpark at 7.55am and will cycle for one hour. Parents are welcome to come and cycle with their children during these sessions. The students will need to have access to a roadworthy bike and a cycle helmet. The dates for these sessions are:
Sunday 10 September
Sunday 22 October
Sunday 12 November

The hotel where we will be staying, Empress Angkor (http://www.empressangkor.com/ ), is located about 2km out of the town centre and has a swimming pool and outdoor space. Students will be staying in shared rooms (in a group of two or three), which have ensuite bathrooms. We will travel on buses with seat belts, that we will hire for the duration of the trip.
The trip should cost approximately $280 and will include accommodation, food and water, transport (participants and bikes) and entry fees for the 3km run and the bike race . The exact amount will be confirmed once we have a clear idea of number of students participating. Please make a payment of $100 to the Finance Office, which acts as a non-returnable deposit by Monday 25 September.
Spending money for the trip is not necessary, but $20 is the maximum allowed and your child will be responsible for that money.
ISPP policy requires that each child has an up-to-date medical travel insurance for this trip. If you do not have insurance, the school can arrange for this to be purchased for the weekend (approx. $15).
If you would like you child to participate in this trip, please complete the online permission formhttps://goo.gl/kuTL4o or email me for a copy.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at school.
