Grade 11 Science Expo

On Friday the Grade 4 & 5 children were invited over to secondary school to see what the Grade 11 Science students had been up to.The Grade 11's had spent 2 days in Kep this week where they conducted science experiments.

On Friday they presented their experiments and findings to the Elementary students.
The class had the opportunity to speak to the Grade 11 students, ask them questions, conduct some experiments and check out what they found. Some very cool experiments done.

Catholic Church Field Trip
As part of our UOI - Beliefs System, on Thursday the Grade 4 children visited Father Charlie and Father Dominic at The Church of Jesus. A Catholic Church.
We boarded 4 mini vans and made our way through the lanes to the Church of Jesus.

Here we listened to the two priests speak about Christianity and some of the stories, the rituals and celebrations in the Catholic Church. The students were then taken out the back to Sacristy where father Dominic show them some of the important artifacts during a mass.

They will eventually auction off the work they create to help fund art equipment for the local Khmer school.A very cool initiative.
Ms Dana is looking for 10-15 keen Grade 4 & 5 children who are committed to giving up their Monday after school time (2.30-4pm) for the next approx 10 Monday's
Beliefs - Our wonderings
Today we had Ms Rachel come into the class to help us unpack our new unit "Beliefs System".We were reminded about how to research and where we should look for information. We then came up with our wondering questions.

What are some of the questions we have?
Ms Rachel showed us the question matrix. How we look at forming deeper questions...
Instead of what if ....what might? what will? what would?
Where might? where will? where can
When might?
Who can? who will? Why might? why would?
How might? how can?

Some of our wondering question are:
Why do we need to respect each other? (imagine a would where we didn't?)
Does the country you are born in, influence your belief, religion?
Can you change your beliefs as you get older?
How do people know what heaven and hell looks like if you only go there when you are dead? Why does Islamic symbol be a moon and star?
If I don't have a belief / religion am I a bad person?
