Unpacking new UOI - Peace & Conflict

This week saw us starting to unpack our new unit of inquiry - How we share the planet (Peace and Conflict) "The actions and attitudes of individuals and communities create peace or conflict."


The class looked at the central idea and rewrote it.


They worked really hard and decided on.




"The behaviours, emotions and the way we act to people and where we live can cause calmness, freedom or hatred".     WHAT WE DO!

We look forward to inquiring into this further over the next few weeks.

Happy birthday cupcakes

Today we were lucky to have Lucy's mum come in and drop off some cupcakes for Lucy's birthday.

We love cupcakes!!!!

Readers theatre in action

This week the class has been busy with their readers theatre groups in preparation to perform them.
I was really impressed with how everyone did in such a short time and without any input from the teacher.


 The children involved in this years musical definitely had the edge.

But there were some others that shone and maybe they need to come out from behind the backstage and next year be involved more.

Swimming Safety

This week the class has been working with Ms Anne and Mr John on water safety. They have been learning how to rescue someone in the event they get into difficulty in the pool and CPR.
A great skill to have.

Readers Theatre

Today saw the class start a new activity for our reading, "Readers Theatre" - Plays.


The class was split into 3 groups of mixed reading ability and assigned a play to work on.

Today the groups just read through the plays and then assigned who was going to take on each role. Each group was also given a person to take on the role as director to keep the groups on task.



It was great to see everyone supporting those that had difficulty with their lines. We will continue to rehearse these for another day and then perform them to the class.


That is another skill.

Buddy time 100days at school

On Wednesday we celebrated 100 days at school with our buddy class by creating something with 100 objects in it.






The grade1 children all brought something to school that they can turn into a creative piece of art work
It was great fun. Thanks buddies for sharing 100 days with us.
